Laurel Museum Reopens
On Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 the Laurel Museum will reopen with its
current exhibit, 'Stories from the Attic: 10 Years of Collecting."
New information and objects will bring a new focus to the African
American Life in Laurel section of the exhibit.

The Road To Freedom
An exhibit tracing the history of the struggle for freedom by
enslaved people of Prince George's County, the State of Maryland,

Hooked Rug Exhibit
Traditional and modern works, all created by the Mason-Dixon Guild
of Rug Hookers, will be on display throughout the mansion. See
stunning designs ranging from landscapes to portraits to abstracts,
all wrought in the time honored tradition of hooked rugs.

8th Annual Gingerbread House Contest and Show

14 The Big Sit!
Enjoy a day of bird watching at the National Wildlife Visitor Center.
The Big Sit! is a birding event hosted by Bird Watcher's Digest and
founded by the New Haven Bird Club. The National Wildlife Refuge
System has adopted this activity for National Wildlife Refuge Week.
No special equipment or experience is needed, but bring your binoculars
and a field guide if you have them! Bring the family -- children's
activities will be available.

17 Fall Lecture Series
Betty DeKeyser, who has done extensive research on early Maryland
families, will do a presentation on the Scotish ancestral homes of early
Maryland families. Ms. DeKeyser has traced her own family to their
British roots, and is now a member of and trustee for the International
Society of British Genealogical and Family History.

26 & 27 Mayhem in Marlborough Ghost Walk
Take a spooky tour of history Upper Marlboro. Meet colonial spirits and

Come see how the winter holidays were celebrated in the early 1800s.
Play games, learn a dance, make a tree ornament, and enjoy holiday
refreshments.

Warm up your winter evenings with music, candlelight and fragrant holiday
greens at Montpelier. Local garden clubs decorate the mansion's rooms in

8 Winter's Eve
Join us on Saturday, December 8, 2007, from 5 to 8 pm at the National
Colonial Farm. Kick off the winter season with our annual Winter's Eve
Celebration. Candlelight and 18th century lanterns will illuminate the
seasonally decorated historic buildings and pathways. Visitors are invited
to enjoy a cup of tea, cookies, popcorn, and join in singing carols by the
fire. The Museum Gift Shop will be open. Light rain or light snow showers.
Admission $2. Members free. Admission fee will be waived in lieu of a canned
food donation, one per person, to support the Maryland Food Bank. Please
